The role of the Accounts Clerk is to provide support to the Finance and Accounts department by performing
daily accounting tasks and working to maintain order and transparency in the business finances for the Southern Utilities Group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accounts payable: Raising purchase invoices in Sage ERP, keeping track of AP schedule
  • and perform payables reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations: Perform bank reconciliations for all banks
  • Accounts receivables: Raising sales invoices in sage ERP, keeping track of AR schedule
  • and perform receivables reconciliations
  • Intercompany account monitoring and reconciliation
  • Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
  • Pass journal entries, end of month GL reconciliation and account closing.
  • Assist with monthly management accounts preparation
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget and monthly cashflow budget
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with approved budget


  • ICAG/ACCA/CIMA Part II or its equivalent
  • Ability to use Sage X3 accounting software
  • Good written and oral communication skills


  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting / Finance / HND Accountancy from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • 2 years of experience in similar roles
